WHICH TABLE RUNNER LENGTH
There's no single rule here — and this is one of those things it's hard to get wrong.
Longer than your table: add 30–40 cm to the table length, so 15–20 cm falls at each end. The classic proportion.
Exactly your table length: the runner sits edge to edge, with both embroidered ends fully visible.
Shorter than your table: subtract 20–30 cm, and it ends just short of the edges. This is where the embroidery reads best — it stays on the table rather than disappearing over the side.
And in any of these, you can lay it perfectly flat or gather it slightly along its length. Linen at this weight holds soft folds, and draped it often looks better than pressed straight.
45 × 150 cm (17.7" × 59") — a table for six
45 × 200 cm (17.7" × 79") — a table for eight
45 × 250 cm (17.7" × 98") — long dining tables, buffets, trestle tables
